Bambi Visits Avenida !!!

I had a unique experience yesterday at the Avenida Happy Hour; I finally got to meet the residents in person. I want to thank everyone who welcomed me so graciously. I offered to give advice but only if it was about intimate relationships. Big mistake. I did not realize where I was. This is the closest place to a nunnery that I have ever been. Now it is a long time since I have been in a Catholic church (I have been banned from all Catholic churches in the United States, Canada, Portugal and Iceland, don't ask why) but I recognize a nunnery when I see it. Yes, there were a few men in attendance, but they were obviously there under duress. Maybe they are overgrown altar boys?

I want to congratulate Carol Barnhart, Jenny Huntsinger and Eleanor Fiascone for winning the prizes for best costumes. I think they spent more time creating their outfits than they spent wearing them. Hopefully, Eleanor returned her costume to the recycling room before the next pick-up. And Jenny did not take her fräulein wig from Octoberfest and undo the braids for Halloween. She has two blonde wigs that we know of so far!

I want to thank Jim Sterzinger for being the first person to greet me on my arrival. He also told everyone I smelled good which was encouraging. (You never know!!)

I want to thank Larry Parsons and Kaye Pedziwater for revealing to us how all the people in Kansas dress every day. I know you guys did not get those expensive cowboy boots just for Happy Hour.

I want to thank Mary Sterzinger for her red wine that John Menard had for some unknown reason. He shared it and I really enjoyed it. By the way, Mary, what did you drink?

I also want to thank the wall of women for letting me sit there. It was very cozy. But where was all the gossip? I also did not get one good recipe. What was that all about? Do I not look like a domestic person?

Kathy Manderscheid was a terrific witch but what I really want is that tee shirt. If I could have a tee shirt just like that I would not ever diet again.  I want six dozen!

All in all, I was very pleased to meet so many of the people Barbara always talks about. Too bad she could not go to the Happy Hour. She had created a fairly nifty costume too. However I locked her in the bathroom which I think was fair. She had the facilities, water and if she got tired she could go lie down in her walk-in closet where she has all her clothes laying on the floor. Looks very comfortable.

I can't wait until next year when I can visit for Halloween again. I am planning my costume already. I probably would look good as Marilyn Monroe! Whaddaya think?

So now that you guys have seen me let's get those questions coming in. Not every hour is Happy Hour. Tell me about Unhappy Hour and I will fix your lives for the better. Promise!
