Dear Bambi,
I saw a movie last night in the Media Lounge called Mole Agent. It was about a man who was hired to pose as a resident of a nursing home. Somebody's daughter was concerned that her mother might not be getting the best of care. So this guy pretended to be a new patient and had a hidden camera so he could find out what was really going on. Well, he went in there, but he found a lot of elderly ladies who were very lonely because there was nothing to do and no one visited.
He began sitting with different women and held their hands and talked to them. He told them that he loved them and calmed them down. At Avenida we have more than one male resident. So why don't the men here do the same thing? I mean, how much would it cost them to sit with a few women each day and just say nice things to them. The guy could hold a hand and put his arm around the woman and just be nice for about ten to fifteen minutes. Everybody would be happier! It seems so simple, doesn't it?
The guy in the movie finally quit his job because there was nothing criminal going on. He went home to his wife and family but the promised the ladies he would come often and visit them. And I bet he did!
Marlys
Dear Marlys,
Oh, that sounds like a fine idea, and I bet some of the men would love to do that. However, I think the women of Avenida would not care for it at all. (Have you looked at some of the men here?)
Also, some of those men have wives. How do you think they would feel if they walked into the Bistro and their husband was sitting with his arm around another woman telling her nice things? There might be some tables turned upside down.
No Marlys, this is a bad idea. But now that you have put the idea in some people's heads we will see what happens!
Bambi
Bambi! I am more than willing to allow my husband to be a nice guy to any woman over 85.
ReplyDeleteWe will start a list of women over 85 on Monday, December 12 at noon. Of course, it will be okay of fudge your age a tiny bit.
