BAMBI HATES SUNSHINE

All right, folks, it's Bambi here. There seems to be strange things going on at Everleigh. First there is the the lobster and the flamingo. Has Everleigh gone Disney?  And who is Fanny Hill?

Then that guy Bobby showed up at your Family Feud! Whatever you do, do not believe anything that guy says. No matter what he claims, he is not living with me in Kankakee. I am not even living in Kankakee any more. Something happened. I had to leave town quickly. Now I am staying in Loves Park but if anyone asks you tell them you know nothing.

Plus, he really dresses funny! Not my type!

And now, here's the latest letter.

Dear Bambi,
I have some questions and ideas. I would like your opinion on them since you seem to have so much experience in the world. l know that Everleigh is for older folks. In the summer they have this nice courtyard with lots of tables, chairs and lounges. It looks good. However, there are never crowds out there like you'd expect. Did you ever think that it might be because all the doctors tell old folks to stay out of the sun?

Try sitting out there! Those table umbrellas do not shade anybody. Sure, they look good but they do not help protect from the rays.  Try adjusting them. Impossible. That courtyard needs better shade!

Here is my suggestion. How about CABANAS? They would look good and people can sit inside and avoid the sun. Take those dang umbrellas to Good Will and scatter a few cabanas around the tables and chairs. You will see crowds out there enjoying the sun! How can we do this?

Ruthie

Dear Ruthie,
That seems like a very clever idea. The courtyard definitely looks good until you notice that just a few people are using it. There is not much shade.  The courtyard is just for looks, not for people.

The problem is that those umbrellas are very sturdy and there will be no replacements until they are tattered and torn. We will all be dead by time that happens!

I suggest that folks go out to Larry's workshop and start building frames for  cabanas.  There must be talented woodworkers who can figure that out. Surely there are ladies who sew.  Buy some canvas and create the cabana covers.  Organize and plan.  It will probably bring more people together than any party or gathering.

Money can be raised by selling home baked goods at breakfast. Have a rummage sale! Put a piggy bank in the Great Room for loose change. No one needs change anymore! You guys will think of lots of ways to raise money and have fun doing it.  This is a project meant for Everleigh.  Just get it started, Ruthie.

PS My loser cousin, Barbara, is going away for a few days during her birthday. That is because she knows no one cares and it's easier to just get out of town then face the facts. That was my advice to her anyway. I think she has finally figured out that she is much better off listening to me! Time will tell!

  2. That’s right Tim! Bambi took them with her to Kankakee. She dropped them off on her way to Loves Park! You see, she has a much smaller place in Loves Park! No room for chess pieces! Bobby talked to Bambi, apparently her loser cousin Barbara shamed her into returning the pieces! Bob
